ISO Approves New Common Name “Cyclobunofen” for Carboxamide Fungicide

19 December 2025, US: The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has approved a new common name, cyclobunofen, for a carboxamide fungicide developed by Qingdao KingAgroot Chemical Compound Co., Ltd. The approval was granted on 10 December 2025, following the completion of the standard objection period, during which no objections were received to the proposed name.

Cyclobunofen corresponds to the chemical compound N-[2-(2,4-dibromophenyl)cyclobutyl]-2-nitrobenzamide, with the CAS Registry Number 3052252-62-4. The fungicide is classified under the carboxamide group, a class known for its targeted action against fungal pathogens.

With the absence of any formal objections, the name cyclobunofen has now become an approved ISO common name and will be officially included in the March 2026 update of the XML data set for ISO 1750:2023, which serves as the global reference for pesticide common names.

In French, the approved common name is « cyclobunofène » (nm).
