Combating Downy Mildew in Onion Crops with Zineb 75% WP – A Government-Approved Solution

Disease Management in Onion Crop in India

18 May 2025, New Delhi: Downy mildew is one of the most destructive fungal diseases in onion crops, particularly in humid and cooler climates. Caused by Peronospora destructor, it thrives in wet conditions, leading to stunted growth and reduced bulb quality.

To combat this, the Central Insecticide Bureau (CIB) under India’s Ministry of Agriculture recommends the use of Zineb 75% WP. This fungicide is highly effective against Downy mildew and is approved for application on onion fields across India.
