Sulphur-Based Fungicides for Powdery Mildew in Mango

Crop Protection Advisory for Mango Farmers in India

18 May 2025, New Delhi: Sulphur has long been used in agriculture as an affordable and effective fungicide. For mango, various formulations of sulphur are permitted:

  • Sulphur 40% SC at 1.5–2.0 kg a.i., with formulation of 3.75–5.0 kg, diluted in 1000 liters of water.
  • Sulphur 55.16% SC at 0.165% a.i. (165 g/10 L water), using 0.3% or 300 ml per 100 liters, and a waiting period of 10 days.
  • Sulphur 80% WP and 80% WG are applied at 2.5 kg a.i. and 1.5–2.0 kg a.i., respectively, requiring 750–1000 liters of water/ha.

Sulphur is particularly useful in integrated disease management (IDM) programs due to its cost-efficiency and low resistance build-up.
