Buckingbong Aggregation: A Rare Offering In The Riverina Region

09 July 2025, AU: A substantial grain-growing opportunity is now available in the heart of the New South Wales Riverina, with the listing of Buckingbong Aggregation by Lawson Grains.

Offered exclusively by Elders Real Estate, the aggregation totals 4,245ha of cropping area (92 per cent arable), and is available as a whole, or in three parcels: Buckingbong (2,536ha), Barragunda (1,438ha) and Calooli (654ha).

Principal agent for Elders Real Estate, Nick Myers says he has no doubt the asset will appeal to a wide range of investor profiles, for both broadacre farming and the potential for alternative revenue streams.

“Buckingbong is a rare offering of scale in the tightly held Riverina region with extensive grain storage and an excellent soil amelioration program,” he added.

Since acquiring the holdings in 2014 and 2015, Lawson Grains has undertaken significant development across the aggregation. The properties have been transformed under a 12-metre controlled traffic farming system, supported by an ongoing soil amelioration program using lime and gypsum.

Crop rotation and stubble retention have been central to the operation, designed to maximise soil health and sustainability.

Structural improvements have focused on access roads, water supply and grain storage, which now totals nearly 12,000 tonnes* via a combination of upright silos and grain bunkers.

According to Lawson Grains CEO Angus Blair, the decision to divest Buckingbong follows a strategic realignment of the company’s southern NSW portfolio.

“The purchase of Bulgandra Aggregation earlier this year added over 3,000 hectares close to our existing operations at Rand,” Mr Blair said.

“This has allowed us to consolidate and sharpen our regional focus.

“Buckingbong has been a strong performer in our portfolio, and we’ve invested significantly in its development. It is now offered to the market as a turnkey, large-scale cropping enterprise.”
