Deck the Halls and Ring in the Season at the Historic Hall of Laureates with the World Food Prize Foundation

19 December 2025, US: WHAT: The World Food Prize Foundation invites the public to celebrate the season at its annual Holiday Open House at the historic Hall of Laureates. This free, family-friendly event welcomes the community to enjoy festive programming and donate to a good cause while exploring one of Des Moines’ most iconic landmarks. 

WHEN: December 20, 2025, 9 a.m. – noon 

WHERE: Dr. Norman E. Borlaug Hall of Laureates

Open to the public; all ages welcome

WHY:  Guests to the Hall can enjoy live holiday caroling by the Grace Church Ensemble, seasonal treats and a visit from Santa, where children can ask him whether they’ve made the naughty or nice list. Visitors are also invited to warm up with hot cocoa while touring the Hall of Laureates, taking in its architecture, art and history.

Throughout the morning, knowledgeable docents will be on hand to educate visitors about the Foundation’s mission and highlight the contributions of Iowans to global food and agriculture. In the spirit of the season, attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation to support the Des Moines community and help alleviate hunger during the holidays.
