DialogueNEXT India :Two-day Event To Be Held In New Delhi
25 August 2025, US: Global agricultural leaders, policymakers, scientists, farmers, and World Food Prize Laureates have gathered in New Delhi for DialogueNEXT India 2025, a two-day high-level conference addressing the urgent challenge of feeding a global population projected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050.
The event, themed “Take it to the Farmer”, is hosted by the World Food Prize Foundation in partnership with CIMMYT, the Borlaug Institute for South Asia (BISA), and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Discussions will focus on the agricultural innovations and partnerships needed over the next 25 years to prevent a hunger tipping point.
The conference is being held at the ICAR Convention Centre, NASC Complex, New Delhi, on September 8–9, 2025. A press conference is scheduled on September 8 from 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
Prominent speakers include Hon. Kim Reynolds, Governor of Iowa; Mike Naig, Iowa’s Secretary of Agriculture; Mashal Husain, President of the World Food Prize Foundation; Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Prime Minister of India; Ramesh Chand, Member of NITI Aayog; and Mangi Lal Jat, Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education and Director General of ICAR. International leaders such as Bram Govaerts, Director General of CIMMYT; Máximo Torero Cullen, Chief Economist at FAO; Simon Heck, Director General of the International Potato Center; and others will also participate.
Key sessions will cover themes such as South-South collaboration, peace through agriculture, farmer-centric innovations, smallholder harvests, nutrition and food systems, value chains and markets, and pathways to take new technologies to farmers.
The urgency of these discussions is underscored by a recent open letter from more than 150 Nobel and World Food Prize Laureates, warning that the world is “not even close” to meeting future food needs. They called for increased investment in agricultural research and innovation to avert a hunger crisis.
DialogueNEXT India is the second event in a three-part global series retracing the legacy of Dr. Norman Borlaug. Outcomes from the New Delhi meeting will set the stage for the Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, scheduled for October 21–23, 2025, in Des Moines, Iowa, USA.
