Centre Clears Over ₹9,700 Crore to Ensure MSP-Backed Procurement for Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan for Kharif 2025-26

19 November 2025, New DelhiThe Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved Price Support Scheme (PSS) and Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) proposals worth more than ₹9,700 crore for Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan for the Kharif 2025-26 season. The approvals aim to ensure MSP-backed procurement and safeguard farmers against market fluctuations.

In a virtual meeting with ministers and senior officials of both states, the minister cleared crop-wise procurement quantities and reviewed state-level preparedness for transparent and timely operations.

For Andhra Pradesh, procurement of 37,273 MT of groundnut under PSS has been approved against an estimated production of 1,49,090 MT, with an MSP value of ₹270.71 crore. The state has also received approval to procure 97,887 MT of onions under MIS, valued at ₹24.47 crore. Officials informed the ministry that L1 Aadhaar-based biometric authentication has been implemented at Rythu Seva Kendras, which will support a streamlined procurement and payment process.

Rajasthan has received one of the largest procurement sanctions in the country this season. The Centre has approved 3,05,750 MT of moong, 1,68,000 MT of urad, 5,54,750 MT of groundnut and 2,65,750 MT of soybean. The combined MSP value of these procurements is approximately ₹9,436 crore. The state government has completed preparations for POS-based Aadhaar authentication at procurement centres to prevent irregularities and ensure efficiency.

Chouhan said ensuring fair prices for farmers remains the top priority. He instructed both states to strengthen procurement mechanisms, ensure availability of Aadhaar-enabled devices at centres, complete farmer registrations and facilitate DBT payments without delay. He also emphasised the role of FPOs and FPCs in providing organised market access to farmers.
