CSKHPKV Organizes Training Programme for NABARD Officers from Haryana on Advances in Agriculture and Allied Sectors
05 November 2025, Palampur: Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya Palampur organized a one-day training programme on ‘Recent Advances in Agriculture and Allied Sectors” for officers of NABARD, Haryana. The event was sponsored by the NABARD Haryana Regional Office, Chandigarh, and held under the bimonthly structured meet at the Directorate of Extension Education.
The programme was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ashok Kumar Panda, who emphasized the need for sustainable, technology-driven, and farmer-centric innovations in agriculture. He lauded NABARD’s continued collaboration with the University in promoting agri-based entrepreneurship, innovation, and rural development.
Mrs. Nivedita Tiwari, Chief General Manager, NABARD (Haryana), graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. She gave an insightful overview of the Cluster Office Approach of NABARD, being implemented as a pilot initiative in several states, including Haryana. She explained how this approach enhances convergence, optimizes resources, and strengthens value-chain linkages to improve farmers’ livelihoods. Mr. Sunil K. Kaushik, General Manager, NABARD (Haryana), attended the programme as the Special Guest.
In his welcome address, Dr. Vinod Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CSKHPKV, highlighted the University’s commitment to fostering partnerships between academia, financial institutions, and extension systems for the benefit of farming communities.
A total of 18 officers from various clusters and the regional office participated in the event. Mr. Himanshu Sahoo, Deputy General Manager (DGM), NABARD, Kangra at Dharamshala, coordinated the meet.
The technical sessions covered a range of contemporary topics in agriculture and allied sectors. Dr. Shivani Katoch, Professor and Head, Livestock Farm Complex, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, delivered a talk on Recent Advances in Ruminant Nutrition. Dr. Rakesh Chahota, Professor, Department of Agricultural Biotechnology, College of Agriculture, discussed Recent Biotechnological Techniques for Crop Improvement. Er. Ashish Dhiman, Assistant Scientist, College of Community Science, presented on Smart Poshan: An AI-Powered Web Application for Nutrition Management.
In the afternoon, participants visited the University’s Hydroponic Vegetable Unit, Livestock Farm Complex, and Natural Farming Experimental Farm, where they gained practical insights into modern, innovative, and eco-friendly agricultural practices being developed and demonstrated by CSKHPKV.
The programme was successfully coordinated by Dr. Lav Bhushan, Training Incharge, and Sh. Sanjeev Parmar, Training Coordinator. The event concluded with an interactive session and a reaffirmed commitment from both CSKHPKV and NABARD to continue collaborative efforts for agricultural innovation and rural prosperity.
