Dhanuka Agritech Hosts Special Workshop on Advanced Technologies for Maize and Pulses Cultivation
21 July 2025, Kasganj: Dhanuka Agritech Limited recently convened a national-level workshop titled “Empowering Farmers: Advanced Technologies in Maize and Pulses Cultivation” on July 19, 2025, in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh, India. The event brought together over 200 farmers along with leading agricultural researchers and extension specialists to promote sustainable, profitable farming through the adoption of modern technologies—focusing particularly on maize and pulses cultivation.
The workshop featured eminent dignitaries including Dr. A.K. Singh, Vice Chancellor of Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology (CSAU&T), as Chief Guest, and Dr. Sain Dass, Former Director of ICAR-Indian Institute of Maize Research, as the Chief Speaker. Other notable participants included Dr. R.K. Yadav, Director of Extension at CSAU&T; Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Principal Scientist at ATARI Kanpur Zone 3; Dr. R.G. Agarwal, Chairman Emeritus of Dhanuka Agritech; along with heads of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) from Kasganj and Raebareli.
The program emphasized the importance of cutting-edge cultivation techniques, crop diversification, and good agricultural practices tailored to maize and pulses—two vital crops recognized globally for their nutritional and economic significance. Maize, often hailed as a “wonder crop,” was highlighted for its rising profitability and expanding role in both domestic consumption and industrial applications.
During his keynote, Dr. Sain Dass outlined the current maize production scenario in India, illustrating how improved maize farming practices can substantially enhance farmer livelihoods. He encouraged adoption of science-driven methods to meet the growing demand from food processing, feed, and bio-industrial sectors.
Dr. R.G. Agarwal underscored the role of holistic farm management for sustainable growth, stressing soil and water testing, rational input use, and the integration of technology such as QR code authentication for agri-inputs. He also advocated for environmental stewardship through water harvesting and tree plantation initiatives to address climate change challenges. Dhanuka’s new eco-friendly crop protection products and micronutrient solutions were introduced as key tools to tackle common maize pests, diseases, and soil health issues.
In his address, Dr. A.K. Singh lauded Dhanuka Agritech’s commitment to advancing maize cultivation, noting India’s impressive agricultural strides since independence alongside emerging climate challenges. Citing NITI Aayog data that rural GDP is nearing parity with urban GDP, he emphasized maize’s vast potential to boost rural prosperity. He commended Dhanuka’s flagship product Sempra for effective management of Motha weed in maize fields, and urged farmers to rely on scientific guidance for pesticide use and to embrace crop diversification supported by India’s robust agricultural research institutions.
Mr. Praveen Kumar of Dhanuka Agritech showcased the company’s comprehensive product portfolio designed specifically for maize cultivation, including herbicides (Implode, Mesotrax, Sempra), insecticides (Cover, Largo), and fungicides (Conika, Godiwa Super), all developed to provide effective, affordable crop protection tailored to farmer needs.
This workshop forms part of Dhanuka Agritech’s broader mission to deliver scientific knowledge and advanced agri-technologies to farmers. In partnership with ICAR and 15 agricultural universities across India, and in close collaboration with KVKs and State Agricultural Universities, Dhanuka actively promotes Integrated Pest and Weed Management, climate-resilient farming, and the use of authentic, science-based inputs among Indian farmers.
