ICAR to Host DialogueNEXT 2025 with World Food Prize, CIMMYT and Borlaug Institute on Farmer-Centric Innovation
27 June 2025, New Delhi: The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is set to host one of the most significant international gatherings in agricultural science and development—DialogueNEXT 2025—on September 8–9, 2025, at the ICAR Convention Center in New Delhi. Organized in collaboration with the World Food Prize Foundation, CIMMYT (International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center), and the Borlaug Institute for South Asia, the two-day event will bring together leading minds in agriculture, science, policy, and innovation from around the world.
Centering the Farmer in Global Agricultural Conversations
The central theme of DialogueNEXT, “Take it to the Farmer,” reflects the enduring philosophy of Nobel Laureate Dr. Norman E. Borlaug, whose life’s work transformed food production and security across continents. These words remain deeply relevant today as the agricultural community seeks to ensure that innovations developed in laboratories and research institutions directly reach and benefit farmers—the true drivers of food systems. ICAR, with its vast network of research institutions and extension services, is uniquely positioned to lead this effort on a global platform.
India’s Leadership in Agricultural Innovation
DialogueNEXT 2025 will showcase India’s pioneering work in agri-technology, climate-smart practices, water-use efficiency, and youth engagement in farming. As the country continues to advance farmer-led innovation, the event will highlight how policy, science, and ground-level experiences can converge to create sustainable, inclusive, and nutrition-sensitive food systems. ICAR’s leadership in organizing this international dialogue reaffirms its role as a global thought leader committed to translating research into impact.
Farmers as Storytellers and Change-Makers
A distinctive feature of this year’s DialogueNEXT is the active participation of farmers not merely as beneficiaries, but as storytellers and catalysts of change. Their voices will shape discussions, inform the narrative, and ensure that outcomes are realistic, practical, and grounded in field-level realities. This participatory model aligns with ICAR’s mission of farmer-first approaches to agricultural development and technology transfer.
A Global Tribute to Borlaug’s Legacy
DialogueNEXT is part of a broader global series that revisits key regions where Dr. Borlaug’s work changed the trajectory of food security. The insights gained from the India edition will contribute meaningfully to the global agricultural dialogue at the Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, to be held in Des Moines, Iowa, on October 21–23, 2025. In hosting this landmark event, ICAR strengthens India’s contribution to global food and nutrition security at a time when collaborative solutions are urgently needed.
