SEEKER®: Syngenta Announces Innovative Fungicide For Soybean And Wheat Management In Brazil
09 September 2025, Brazil: Syngenta has announced the launch of SEEKER®, an innovative fungicide targeted at soybean and wheat crops. Featuring the new active ingredient Fenpropidin , a member of the Piperidine group (FRAC 5), the solution combats challenging diseases that have developed resistance to older solutions and fills a critical gap in the Brazilian market by promoting more effective management.
For soybeans, the fungicide offers maximum effectiveness against challenging diseases such as Asian rust (Phakopsora pachyrhizi) and Cercospora spp. (Cercospora spp.). In this crop, SEEKER® is recommended for final applications, a critical period for grain filling, enabling success in the final stretch so that farmers have a disease-free crop.
Asian rust, one of the crop’s main diseases, can reduce crop productivity by up to 90% when not properly controlled, according to Embrapa. Regarding cercospora, the disease occurs with high severity in susceptible cultivars, with losses that can exceed 80%, according to Embrapa.
For wheat, SEEKER® is recommended for controlling powdery mildew (Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici), an endemic disease that, according to data released by Embrapa, reduces grain production by between 5% and 8% in normal years and between 15% and 62% in years with favorable weather conditions and in susceptible cultivars. The new molecule provides maximum efficiency against powdery mildew, superior to current market standards, in addition to boosting the crop’s production potential.
“SEEKER® complements Syngenta’s robust fungicide portfolio, providing farmers with an innovation that delivers maximum control efficiency for market segments lacking real innovation, such as the latest soybean applications, targeting the control of cercospora and rust, as well as powdery mildew in wheat crops,” explains Pedro Altomar, Syngenta’s Product Marketing Manager.
