Integrated Partnership Board Chair Elected

06 January 2026, BelgiumProf. Roel Merckx, a native of Belgium, professor emeritus of KU Leuven and Board Chair of IITA brings extensive leadership experience in agricultural science and capacity building in the South. His appointment comes at a pivotal moment as CGIAR accelerates its efforts toward global food, land and water systems transformation in a context of climate crisis and continues to optimize its governance through sustained engagement across the Integrated Partnership.

Reflecting on his appointment, Prof. Roel Merckx said:

“I am deeply honored by the trust and support extended to me by the GAC, the IPB, and the System Council in appointing me as Chair of the Integrated Partnership Board during this transition period. I look forward to working closely with my fellow Board members, the CGIAR System Council, the CGIAR Research Centers, and our many partners to strengthen and streamline IPB operations globally as we accelerate progress toward achieving food security for all.”
