Control Union Sri Lanka Opens Advanced Laboratory to Strengthen Food Safety and Sustainable Trade
12 February 2026, Sri Lanka: Control Union Sri Lanka has marked a significant milestone with the official opening of its new state-of-the-art laboratory, strengthening scientific testing capabilities to support food safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable trade. The facility becomes part of Control Union’s global laboratory network and is designed to deliver advanced analytical and microbiological testing services aligned with international quality standards.
The newly inaugurated Control Union Laboratory offers comprehensive testing solutions across a wide range of sectors, including food and beverage analysis, water and wastewater testing, environmental and EHS monitoring, pesticide residue and mycotoxin analysis, edible oils and fats, dairy products, spices, fishery products, and nutritional profiling. The facility aims to enhance product quality, safety, and compliance with global regulatory and certification requirements.
Equipped with advanced technologies such as LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, and PCR-based testing systems, the laboratory is designed to meet stringent international standards for regulatory compliance, export requirements, and certification processes. The enhanced testing capabilities are expected to support Sri Lanka’s agricultural and food industries in improving product quality and expanding access to global markets.
Roshan Ranawake, Managing Director of Control Union Sri Lanka, said that the new laboratory enables the company to offer a complete spectrum of Testing, Inspection, and Certification services in the country. He noted that the world-class facility significantly strengthens local testing capabilities and allows the organization to deliver precise, efficient, and reliable analytical solutions across industries. According to him, the laboratory represents not only an expansion of services but also a step forward in advancing scientific excellence and supporting sustainable industrial growth in Sri Lanka.
