SOMS 2025 Champions Agri Innovation and Rural Journalism for India’s Future Growth
04 July 2025, Gandhinagar: The Soluble Fertiliser Industry Association (SFIA) successfully hosted SOMS 2025 at the Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre, Gandhinagar, centred on the theme “Agri Entrepreneur.” The event convened agritech innovators, policymakers, researchers, and rural media professionals to drive dialogue on innovation, enterprise, and communication in Indian agriculture.
Gujarat Agriculture Minister Raghavjibhai Hansrajbhai Patel inaugurated the event, commending the contributions of agri-entrepreneurs and rural journalists in transforming Indian agriculture. “With the adoption of new technologies, India is on course to become a global leader in fertilisers,” he said.
SFIA President Rajib Chakraborty called for regulatory reforms, digitisation, and infrastructure support to boost domestic fertiliser manufacturing and promote SOMS fertilisers, already used by over 5 crore farmers.
A major highlight was the Thesis Showdown, where students from leading agri-universities presented innovations with commercial potential—ranging from biogenic nano potassic fertilisers to intelligent orchard sprayers. A panel of industry experts offered feedback to guide further development.
In a panel discussion on regulatory ease, Rahul Mirchandani, President, IMMA, advocated for a “One Nation, One Licence” policy to simplify fertiliser regulations and foster entrepreneurship.
SOMS 2025 also recognised excellence in rural reporting through the Agri Journalism Awards, honouring journalists across English, Hindi, and Marathi media platforms. The awards celebrated impactful storytelling that bridges policy and grassroots realities.
