Over 250 Researchers Benefit From Script Webinar Aimed At Writing Effective Policy Briefs
29 November 2025, USA: More than 250 researchers from around the world have benefitted from a Script training webinar aimed at writing effective policy briefs.
The training webinar, entitled ‘Writing an Effective Policy Brief from Your Research,’ was aimed at researchers in CABI member countries who want to strengthen their ability to develop policy briefs and engage with the appropriate policymakers.
Delivered by Dr Charles Wendo, Training Coordinator, SciDev.Net, it helped them build confidence and competence in contributing to policy discussions, increasing the practical impact of their research.
Featured topics
The training webinar featured topics including ‘What is a policy brief?’ and ‘How to write a policy brief’ ended with the opportunity for participants to submit their own policy brief for confidential review and personalised feedback.
Dr Wendo said, “One of the polls during the session revealed that 59 percent of participants had never written a policy brief.
“Following this training webinar, it is hoped that those who attended will have strengthened their ability to develop policy briefs and engage with appropriate policymakers.”
He added that participants are now better equipped to create policy briefs that are clear, actionable, and more likely to inform decision-making.
Those who attended the training webinar included those from the University of Zambia, the University of Guyana, Louisiana State University, USA, International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology, and Sindh Agricultural University Tandojam, Pakistan.
