Building upon the legacy of the land with Upshift® C
13 February 2026, Ohio: In 1920, Daniel Chapman’s great-grandpa Ritchie started farming the land using horses. Since then, each generation of the family has worked to leave a legacy for the next.
As Chapman Farms continues to build a strong future for the farm, Daniel and his father, J.B., use a suite of products from Meristem Crop Performance®. One highlight has been the Upshift C concentrated starter system, which has helped the Chapmans capitalize on the work of their forefathers, while setting future generations up for success.
“We’ve been building a bank of soil fertility for so long. We have a lot of the MAP and DAP that we put out there that is not available to the plants,” Chapman said. “The Upshift C is converting the phosphate already in the soil into plant-available phosphate.”
Upshift C concentrate is designed for dissolving in water and being applied as a direct replacement for 10-34-0. Upshift C is powered by Ether™ Enzyme Technology which combines two enzymes (Phosphatase and Mannanase) to increase phosphate availability, increase nutrient and water availability, boost root growth, and maximize microbial activity.
“In 2024, we had a strip trial comparing Upshift C to 10-34-0 on a 200-acre farm. The Upshift C was about 7 bushels better at a much lower cost. For us to use it on our farm, it’s got to produce, and it did,” Chapman said. “It also has a much lower salt index and is a better alternative for soil health.”
For 2026, Upshift® C Plus is being added to the Meristem product lineup. The new 12-58-0 formulation includes active, EDTA chelated zinc for better enzyme metabolic reaction and added phenolic acid compounds to assist with early season abiotic stress.
Both Upshift C and Upshift C Plus add efficiency to supply chains by not shipping water and empower farmers by replacing costly, corrosive traditional fertilizer programs.
“One of the biggest wastes in U.S. agriculture is transporting water. With these concentrates, it allows farmers to take cost out by adding the water on the farm. Upshift C can replace higher cost, high-salt products by letting the power of those enzymes do the work,” said Mitch Eviston, Meristem founder and CEO. “This added zinc with stress mitigators in Upshift C Plus is the next innovation for our Upshift C family of products in response to farmers who want to save a step at the field. It is just one more option to help farmers produce more for less. It can also be used as a foliar and is a great acidifier.”
Both Upshift C products are available for the 2026 planting season.
Upshift C Plus will be highlighted at the 2026 Commodity Classic in a “What’s New Session” Feb. 25 at 10:30 a.m. in San Antonio. Be sure to visit booth 3881 Feb. 25-27 to learn how Winners Fight Back with Meristem at the Commodity Classic Trade Show.
