USA: The Fertilizer Institute Responds to Trump’s Fertilizer Tariff Exemption
20 November 2025, Arlington: The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) issued a statement after President Donald Trump announced that all fertilizers will be exempt from tariffs.
TFI President and CEO Corey Rosenbusch said the decision recognises the role of fertilizers in U.S. food production and national supply. He noted that the U.S. fertilizer market operates through a mix of domestic production and imports, which are used during spring planting and fall application periods.
Rosenbusch said TFI will work with the Trump Administration on trade matters connected to fertilizer supply, including the removal of barriers affecting materials used in fertilizer production, maintenance, and expansion.
He added that farmers remain central to the fertilizer industry and that the institute will continue engaging with the administration on policies linked to agriculture and input availability.
TFI said the tariff exemption aligns with its discussions on ensuring fertilizer supply for U.S. farmers and food markets.
