China Approves First Registration of Prothioconazole + Picoxystrobin WG Formulation by Jiangsu Yunfan Chemical
14 July 2025, Shanghai: Jiangsu Yunfan Chemical Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Yifan Biotechnology Group Co., Ltd., has officially received full registration approval in China for its Prothioconazole 34% + Picoxystrobin 40% WG formulation. This marks the first domestic registration of this combination, specifically approved for managing wheat head blight disease.
The formulation combines two systemic fungicidal active ingredients: Prothioconazole, classified under Triazolinthione chemistry, and Picoxystrobin, a Strobilurin compound. These act through distinct mechanisms—Prothioconazole inhibits sterol biosynthesis critical for fungal cell membranes, while Picoxystrobin disrupts mitochondrial respiration in pathogens. This dual action not only enhances disease control but also minimizes the risk of cross-resistance.
The product demonstrates strong efficacy against a wide range of crop diseases, including soybean rust (Phakopsora pachyrhizi), target leaf spot (Corynespora cassiicola), brown spot (Septoria glycines), leaf blight (Cercospora kikuchii), anthracnose (Colletotrichum truncatum), powdery mildew (Microsphaera diffusa), sclerotinia (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum), and wheat head blight (Fusarium graminearum). Field data also suggests a noticeable yield increase in treated crops.
With a focus on Prothioconazole and Picoxystrobin as key active ingredients, Yifan Group plans to expand its product line by developing innovative formulations tailored for disease resistance management and crop productivity enhancement. The company aims to leverage its domestic regulatory expertise to accelerate product availability and provide farmers with high-value agricultural solutions.
