CPDA Welcomes Release of Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026
16 February 2026, Arlington: The Council of Producers & Distributors of Agrotechnology (CPDA) today welcomed the release of legislative text for the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 (Farm Bill), led by House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson.
“Farmers need access to proven crop protection tools and adjuvant technologies to stay productive, resilient, and globally competitive,” said CPDA President and CEO Terry Kippley. “This legislation helps ensure those tools remain available while reinforcing America’s science-based regulatory system. CPDA looks forward to working with Chairman Thompson, the Committee, and members of Congress on both sides of the aisle to advance a strong, bipartisan Farm Bill that supports farmers, strengthens rural economies, and reinforces U.S. food and national security.”
The legislation continues key farm safety net and risk management programs that help provide stability to farmers and ranchers during periods of market volatility, weather challenges, and global disruption.
The bill includes several priorities important to CPDA members and the farmers they serve.
Supporting Agricultural Innovation and Applied Research
The legislation supports Centers of Excellence focused on advancing crop production, crop protection, and agricultural resilience. The bill specifically recognizes the role of crop protection technologies, including adjuvants, which help optimize product performance, improve application efficiency, and support environmental stewardship.
Strengthening Voluntary Conservation and Modernizing Program Delivery
The bill improves voluntary, incentive-based conservation programs and creates a clearer process to update conservation practice standards to reflect new technologies and real-world farm practices. It also improves implementation and streamlines Technical Service Provider pathways, helping farmers access trusted technical expertise and conservation planning support.
Reinforcing Science-Based Crop Protection Policy
The legislation strengthens regulatory clarity and coordination across pesticide programs, including improved coordination between USDA and EPA and maintaining EPA as the primary federal safety authority for pesticide decisions. These provisions help ensure farmers maintain access to proven tools while maintaining strong protections for human health and the environment.
