ISO Formally Approves New Common Name “Metcyclofenstrobin” for Strobilurin Fungicide from Syngenta

10 November 2025, US: The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has officially approved the new common name “metcyclofenstrobin” for a strobilurin fungicide developed by Syngenta Crop Protection AG. The approval was granted on November 7, 2025, following the expiry of the objection period with no challenges received.

The chemical is identified as:
methyl (2Z)-2-(5-cyclohexyl-2-methylphenoxy)-3-methoxy-2-propenoate [CAS No. 2490157-71-4].

With this final approval, “metcyclofenstrobin” will be incorporated into the March 2026 update of the XML data set for ISO 1750:2023, the international standard that defines preferred names and common names for pesticides and related chemicals.
