28 January 2026, Dubai: The 23rd International Crop Science Conference & Exhibition (ICSCE Dubai 2026), organised by the PMFAI Agribusiness Foundation, was held on January 19 and 20 at Dubai. Alongside the conference, the seventh edition of the PMFAI-SML Annual Agchem Awards 2026 recognised excellence across the agri-inputs sector, drawing strong participation from global industry stakeholders.
ICSCE 2026 marked a significant milestone in the evolution of the conference series, which has been organised consistently since 1997 across India and several international locations. With the establishment of the PMFAI Agribusiness Foundation in 2023, the event entered a new phase focused on strengthening global collaboration across agrochemicals, agri-biologicals and allied industries.
Industry outlook and global participation
The two-day conference opened with a welcome address by PMFAI President Pradip Dave, who reflected on the journey of ICSCE since its inception in Mumbai. He noted that while the global agri-inputs industry has faced challenges over the past two years, improving demand conditions and inventory normalisation have begun to stabilise the sector. Highlighting India’s growing role in global supply chains, he pointed out that the country has emerged as the world’s fourth-largest producer and second-largest exporter of agrochemicals, supplying products to more than 160 countries.
ICSCE Dubai 2026 recorded participation from over 1,200 registered delegates representing more than 43 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. A total of 117 agri-input and allied companies showcased crop protection chemicals, biologicals, biostimulants and digital agriculture solutions during the exhibition.
Focus on plant health, regulation and innovation
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Shaza Roshdy Omar, Plant Health Expert and Phytosanitary Specialist associated with the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), Egypt. She underlined the importance of international plant health systems in supporting sustainable agriculture, particularly in developing economies, emphasising prevention, early detection and harmonised phytosanitary standards as cost-effective tools to safeguard crops, biodiversity and food security.
Over the course of the conference, industry leaders, scientists and analysts addressed a wide range of topics, including global agrochemical supply chain risks, nutrient use efficiency technologies, biopesticides and biostimulants markets, regulatory challenges in Europe, digitisation of supply chains, formulation science, and emerging manufacturing and innovation trends in India and China.
A dedicated roundtable discussion on “Shaping the Future of Agrochemicals” brought together next-generation leaders from Indian agrochemical companies. The discussion examined export competitiveness, R&D investment priorities and India’s positioning within the ‘China Plus One’ strategy, reflecting the generational transition underway within the industry.

The conference’s first day concluded with the PMFAI-SML Annual Agchem Awards 2026, held on the evening of January 19 at the same venue. Instituted in 2018, the awards recognise contributions across agrochemicals, agri-biologicals and allied sectors, with permanent sponsorship from SML Limited.
