Syngenta Introduces VICTRATO® Seed Treatment in Brazil to Tackle Nematodes and Early Leaf Diseases

31 October 2025, BrazilAs Brazil begins planting for the 2025/26 season, expectations are high for another record harvest. According to the National Supply Company (Conab), the country is projected to produce approximately 177 million tonnes of soybeans and 138.3 million tonnes of corn. In support of growers working toward these record goals, Syngenta has launched VICTRATO®, a new seed treatment technology based on TYMIRIUM® technology, designed to combat nematodes and early-stage foliar diseases that threaten crop yields.

Recent studies conducted by Syngenta, in collaboration with Agroconsult and the Brazilian Society of Nematology, show that nematodes are present in more than 90% of soil samples across Brazil. Losses in soybean alone are estimated to reach R$27.7 billion annually, significantly impacting farm profitability.

VICTRATO® offers broad-spectrum protection against all key nematode species affecting soybeans, corn, cotton, and several other crops. By acting on the plant’s root system, it helps reduce nematode pressure, improve nutrient and water uptake, and enhance tolerance to stress, ultimately leading to more stable productivity.

The technology also helps control early foliar diseases such as powdery mildew, septoria, target spot, ramularia, and bipolaris, while protecting against soil-borne pathogens like Fusarium spp., Macrophomina spp., and Sclerotinia spp.—organisms that are often difficult to manage through conventional means.

Field trials in Goiás and northern Mato Grosso have shown promising results. In several soybean trials, plots treated with VICTRATO® recorded yield gains of up to 5.4 bags per hectare compared to the leading seed treatment products currently used.

“Our goal is to help farmers achieve higher yield potential and maintain crop performance from below and above the ground,” said Carlos Tonet, Seedcare Marketing Manager at Syngenta Crop Protection Brazil. “VICTRATO® delivers protection, simplicity in application, and a sustainable profile that preserves soil microbiology and beneficial insects.”

With no impact on pollinators and full compatibility with biological products, VICTRATO® reflects Syngenta’s ongoing focus on sustainable innovation. The company invests around US$2 billion annually in global research and development to provide solutions that integrate science, productivity, and environmental stewardship.
