Syngenta Wins Protection for Benzovindiflupyr and Pydiflumetofen in Shanghai IP Case
03 December 2025, US: The Intellectual Property Office of Fengxian District, Shanghai has issued two administrative adjudications involving patent infringement disputes. Puxi (Shanghai) Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was found to have infringed two compound patents held by Syngenta Crop Protection AG and Syngenta Group Co., Ltd.
According to the adjudications, Puxi Biotechnology sold and offered for sale the compound Benzovindiflupyr (CAS 1072957-71-1) via its official website and a third-party online store. The products were determined to fall within the protection scope of Syngenta’s Benzovindiflupyr compound patent.
The company was also found to have sold and offered for sale Pydiflumetofen (CAS 1228284-64-7) through its official website. These products similarly fell within the scope of Syngenta’s Pydiflumetofen compound patent.
Under the rulings, the Intellectual Property Office ordered Puxi Biotechnology to immediately cease the sale and offer for sale of both compounds, eliminate related negative effects, and refrain from using any remaining products for production, business activities, or market circulation in any form.
Under Chinese law, administrative adjudications on patent infringement disputes take effect upon issuance. Enforcement continues even if the respondent files an administrative lawsuit.
Benzovindiflupyr and Pydiflumetofen are fungicides developed by Syngenta. Corresponding products marketed under brands such as 美甜®, 麦甜®, 夏甜®, 珍甜® and 益卉® are used for disease and pest management in major crops including wheat. Current investigations indicate that within China, only Syngenta and its affiliates hold pesticide registrations for the active ingredients and related formulations.
