U.S. EPA Proposes Approval of Epyrifenacil Herbicide: Public Comment Now Open
04 November 2025, Washington: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has opened a 30-day public comment period on the proposed registration of epyrifenacil, a new herbicide developed by Valent U.S.A. LLC. The herbicide is intended for pre-plant burndown applications in both agricultural and non-agricultural settings, specifically targeting problematic broadleaf and grass weeds.
The proposal, filed under Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OPP-2022-0354, has been posted on Regulations.gov along with scientific and regulatory documents supporting the EPA’s preliminary decision. The public comment period runs from November 3, 2025, to December 3, 2025.
Epyrifenacil marks a significant development in weed management solutions, with potential implications for sustainable agriculture, crop protection, and resistance management across key cropping systems in the United States.
