VETERAN (Technical: Tembotrione 34.4% w/w SC)

20 March 2024, New Delhi: Veteran is the latest innovative broad-spectrum herbicide to control both broad and grassy leaved weeds in maize.

Mode of Action:

Veteran inhibits the activity of the 4 hydroxy-phenyl-pyruvate-deoxygenase (4 HPPD) enzyme. The formation of carotenoids (plant pigments) is disrupted by the blockage of the enzyme. Depletion of carotenoids deprives chlorophyll of its protection against an overdose of light and this results in chlorophyll bleaching.
