Hexaconazole Formulations for Powdery Mildew in Mangoes
Crop Protection Advisory for Mango Farmers in India
18 May 2025, New Delhi: Hexaconazole is available in multiple formulations such as 5% EC and 5% SC, both recognized and permitted by the Central Insecticide Board for use on mangoes to treat powdery mildew.
For Hexaconazole 5% EC, the effective dosage is 0.005% or 5 grams per 100 liters of water. A 0.1% formulation (100 ml per 100 liters) is ideal, and the spray can be repeated as required, with a waiting period of 30 days. The 5% SC formulation requires a slightly higher dosage of 0.01% or 10 grams per 100 liters, and a formulation of 0.2% (200 ml per 100 liters), with a reduced waiting period of 27 days.
This systemic fungicide works by inhibiting ergosterol biosynthesis in fungal membranes, stopping disease progression effectively. Its flexibility in application and dual formulation options give farmers more control over disease management schedules.
