Managing Anthracnose in Mangoes with Copper Oxychloride 50% WG
Crop Protection Advisory for Mango Farmers in India
18 May 2025, New Delhi: Anthracnose is a serious post-harvest disease in mangoes that leads to black lesions on fruits, causing spoilage and economic loss. Copper Oxychloride 50% WG is a contact fungicide permitted by the Central Insecticide Board (CIB), proven effective in controlling this issue.
For best results, farmers should use a dosage of 0.12% or 120 grams per 100 liters of water, with a recommended formulation of 0.24% or 240 grams per 100 liters. The volume of water used should be determined based on the equipment and canopy size. A waiting period of 10 days is advised before harvesting.
This fungicide forms a protective barrier on plant surfaces, preventing fungal spore germination. Its preventive nature is particularly beneficial when used during early stages of fruit development or prior to monsoon season. Regular application under proper guidelines ensures significant reduction in disease incidence.
