Pushkar Fair 2025: ₹10-Crore Horse ‘Badal’ and ₹23-Crore Buffalo ‘Anmol’ Steal the Spotlight
31 October 2025, Pushkar: The iconic Pushkar Fair, one of India’s largest and oldest livestock fairs, is underway from October 30 to November 5, 2025, drawing breeders, traders, and visitors from across the country and abroad. This year, two extraordinary animals — a horse named ‘Badal’ and a buffalo named ‘Anmol’ — have emerged as the highlights of the fair.
‘Badal’, valued at around ₹10 crore, stands over 5 feet 6 inches tall and has become the talk of the event for its exceptional physique and breeding quality. While its precise breed origin is not confirmed, breeders describe it as a high-quality horse used for artificial insemination, with its semen in demand among top breeders aiming to produce superior offspring.
Equally captivating is ‘Anmol’, a buffalo from Sirsa, Haryana, valued at ₹23 crore. Known for her strong genetic lineage and multiple awards at national livestock competitions, Anmol is part of advanced breeding programs. She reportedly drinks nearly 5 kilograms of milk daily and is considered a prime example of India’s evolving focus on genetic enhancement in dairy livestock.
Officials from the Rajasthan Animal Husbandry Department said that this year’s Pushkar Fair reflects a shift from traditional animal trade to scientific livestock management, genetics, and artificial breeding practices. The event also features camel parades, horse shows, cultural programs, and exhibitions that promote both heritage and innovation in animal husbandry.
