Voices On Climate: “Ruminants Contribute Significantly To The Resilience Of Food Production”
29 January 2026, Frick: FiBL expert Florian Leiber has been researching grassland-based production systems and sustainable feed resources for 25 years. In our series “Voices on climate”, he talks, among other things, about the role methane produced by cattle plays in climate change and how cattle contribute to humanity’s climate resilience.
His interview also addresses what is needed for climate-friendly ruminant farming and the importance of sustainable management of global grassland resources in this context.
Florian Leiber is head of the Animal Nutrition Group at FiBL and co-author of the fact sheet “Cow and Climate”, which FiBL published at the end of 2025 in collaboration with Bio Suisse, the umbrella organisation of Swiss organic farmers.
