
Bilateral meeting with H.E. Han Jun, Minister for Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) of the People’s Republic of China
16 October 2025, Rome: FAO Director-General, Dr QU Dongyu, met today with H.E. HAN Jun, Minister for Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) of the People’s Republic of China, on the sidelines of the 2025 World Food Forum and FAO’s 80th Anniversary celebrations at FAO headquarters.
The Director-General warmly welcomed Minister Han, expressing his great appreciation for China’s steadfast partnership with FAO and for the country’s leadership in global food security, poverty reduction and agricultural development. He highlighted that China’s successful experience in agricultural transformation and poverty reduction served as an model for the Global South.
Minister Han congratulated FAO on its 80th Anniversary and commended the Organization’s longstanding support, noting that FAO had become more practical, efficient, dynamic, and modern under the leadership of Dr Qu Dongyu. The Minister also highly appreciated FAO’s role in addressing global food challenges during a time of geopolitical uncertainty.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to closer collaboration in advancing global food security, and agricultural and rural development.
