China Deploys 2.4 Lakh Harvesters and 2,000 Dryers to Protect Autumn Grain Harvest Amid Heavy Rains

13 October 2025, New Delhi: China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has initiated emergency deployment of agricultural machinery to safeguard the autumn grain harvest across key producing provinces between the Yellow River and Huaihe River, as continuous rainfall disrupts harvesting operations.

The ministry reported that persistent rain has slowed harvest progress in Henan, Shandong, and Anhui — among China’s top grain-producing regions. To counter the delays, a dedicated task force has been set up to coordinate machinery dispatch and provide technical support for equipment adjustments suitable for wet field conditions.

So far, over 244,000 tracked harvesters and nearly 2,000 mobile grain dryers have been mobilized to the affected areas. The ministry said it will continue to work closely with eight provinces — Hebei, Shanxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, and Shaanxi to ensure timely machinery support and minimize harvest losses.
