Focus On Farm Business A Priority This February

12 December 2025, AustraliaThe Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) has announced the locations and dates of the upcoming Farm Business Updates in regional Western Australia.

The 2026 Farm Business Updates will be held in:

  • Dandaragan, Monday 9 February, Dandaragan Community Recreation Centre
  • Merredin, Wednesday 11 February, Merredin Sport and Recreation Club
  • Porongurup, Friday 13 February, Karribank Retreat

GRDC Grower Relations Manager – West, Berin Gibbons, said the Farm Business Updates support grain growers to adopt innovative farm business practices to optimise the management, profitability and sustainability of their businesses.

“The Farm Business Updates are a great chance for growers – and their staff, advisers and business partners – to learn from a mix of experts and each other,” Mr Gibbons said.

Farm profit margins are feeling the squeeze at present, with high input costs and relatively low grain prices. In this environment, every dollar counts.

“These events provide access to high quality speakers on a range of topics, determined in consultation with grower networks, farm business advisers and industry.”

The 2026 program features topics identified as priorities by grain growers and advisers in the west and across Australia and delivered by exceptional local and interstate presenters.

It will feature sessions on communication, benchmarking and financial planning, strategic planning, financial farm resilience, and machinery investment; with presentations from Dr Jane Foster, Jeanette Long, Jo Gilbert, Ben White and Peter Newman.

The updates are supported by local groups the West Midlands Group, the Merredin and Districts Farm Improvement Group and Stirlings to Coast Farmers.

“Working with local groups and advisers from across the growing regions helps develop a relevant and timely program. I encourage WA growers and advisers to put these in your planner and register for these valuable events,” Mr Gibbons said.
