Minister Han Meets with Vietnamese Counterpart and Co-Chairs Bilateral Agriculture Meeting

03 December 2025, ChinaHan Jun, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, met with Tran Duc Thang, Minister of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam, in Beijing on November 28. They co-chaired the second meeting of the China–Vietnam Joint Committee on Agricultural Cooperation.

Minister Han stated that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China and Vietnam’s development of a community with a shared future has become deeper and more substantial, underpinned by close exchanges in agriculture and steadily growing economic and trade cooperation. The two countries have reaped fruitful results in technical cooperation in crop cultivation, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, and fisheries. China seeks to work with Vietnam to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, fully leverage the role of the China–Vietnam Joint Committee on Agricultural Cooperation, and jointly plan and implement cooperation projects. China also hopes to deepen technical exchanges and capacity-building cooperation in areas such as rice breeding, smart agriculture, conservation of fishery resources, and the prevention and control of crop diseases and pests as well as animal diseases. In addition, it seeks to consolidate and expand agro-trade activities and industrial cooperation—with all these efforts propelling bilateral agricultural cooperation to a new level.

Minister Tran stated that Vietnam attaches great importance to its agricultural cooperation with China. Furthermore, he agreed with Minister Han’s suggestions on deepening bilateral agricultural exchanges and cooperation. He said Vietnam seeks to further tap the potential for cooperation in areas such as green agriculture, the cultivation of high-quality agricultural talent, and investment in agricultural science and technology.

Tao Huaiying, Chief Veterinary Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), and Pan Wenbo, Chief Agronomist of MARA, also attended the meeting.
