Collectors-Commissioners Conference 2025: Madhya Pradesh to Promote Natural and Organic Farming – CM Dr. Mohan Yadav
07 October 2025, Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasized that since Madhya Pradesh is an agriculture-driven state, the government’s foremost goal is to promote natural and organic farming while expanding the area under horticultural crops. Addressing the first session on “Agriculture and Allied Sectors” during the Collectors-Commissioners Conference 2025, Dr. Yadav highlighted the importance of moving farmers beyond traditional practices toward agri-entrepreneurship, dairy, fisheries, and horticulture to ensure sustainable income and growth in the rural economy.
Focus on Natural Farming and Horticulture Expansion
Dr. Yadav stated that transitioning to natural and organic farming is a major challenge but essential for long-term agricultural sustainability. He directed every district collector to motivate at least 100 farmers in their respective districts to adopt natural farming methods and to maintain records of their performance and benefits. To enhance market access, he instructed that organic produce counters be established in local haats and weekly markets, ensuring farmers get direct and fair prices for their products.
The Chief Minister noted that crops such as banana, orange, and tomato are produced in large quantities in Madhya Pradesh, and therefore, the government will strengthen processing and marketing infrastructure at the local level. He also announced a renewed focus on promoting “Shree Anna” (millets) to make the state self-reliant and nutritionally rich. Appreciating the innovative rose farming initiative in Guna district, he suggested similar efforts in religious towns where the demand for flowers remains high.
Strengthening Schemes and Sustainable Practices
Dr. Yadav directed officials to intensify the publicity of the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana to ensure that more farmers benefit from it. He asked collectors to play an active role in its smooth and transparent execution. Stressing the importance of environmental protection, the Chief Minister called for strict control over stubble burning incidents and urged farmers to adopt alternatives such as Happy Seeder, Super Seeder, and baler machines for residue management.
Agriculture Production Commissioner Ashok Barnwal conducted the session and presented a detailed report covering the promotion of natural farming, development of climate-resilient crops, cluster-based horticulture production, expansion of micro-irrigation, cage culture in fisheries, crop residue management, improvements in seed and fertilizer distribution, and advancements in dairy production and gaushala management.
The conference also recognized innovative agricultural practices from five districts. Guna shared its rose cluster development initiative, Harda presented efforts in promoting natural and organic farming, Shajapur introduced a token-based fertilizer distribution system, Sheopur demonstrated effective stubble management, and Khandwa highlighted successful gaushala operations.
Dr. Yadav concluded by affirming that Madhya Pradesh must emerge as a model state in sustainable agriculture, integrating traditional wisdom with modern agri-entrepreneurship to secure a prosperous future for farmers and the state’s rural economy.
