Haryana Raises Millet Procurement Price, Farmers to Receive ₹2,775 per Quintal
28 September 2025, Chandigarh: The Haryana government has announced a significant decision in favor of millet farmers by revising procurement rates for the 2025–26 kharif season. Under the revised plan, the state will procure millet at ₹2,200 per quintal, compared to the earlier rate of ₹2,150 per quintal. In addition, farmers will receive a direct transfer of ₹575 per quintal under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana (price deficiency scheme). This brings the effective payout to ₹2,775 per quintal, aligning with the minimum support price (MSP) set by the central government.
A spokesperson from the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs stated that the decision was made after reviewing prevailing market prices. With the direct increase of ₹50 per quintal and the additional scheme benefit, farmers are expected to see improved returns and enhanced income security.
Private Purchases Also Covered
The government clarified that farmers selling millet to private traders at rates above ₹2,200 per quintal will still be eligible for the ₹575 per quintal payment under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana. This ensures that farmers can potentially earn more than the MSP, reflecting the state’s commitment to securing fair value for their produce.
Procurement Advanced to September 23
The state has also advanced the start of millet procurement from October 1 to September 23. A total of 92 mandis and procurement centers have been set up across Haryana for the process. According to official data, 506,313 farmers have registered on the “Meri Fasal, Mera Byora” portal to participate in the scheme, underscoring strong farmer interest.
This year, procurement operations are being handled by HAFED (Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation) and the Haryana State Warehousing Corporation. The state government expects that timely procurement and assured payment will not only provide farmers with fair compensation but also strengthen their financial stability.
