National Pulses Conference to Be Held in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh on 7 February

05 February 2026, New Delhi: With the objective of strengthening India’s pulses sector and enhancing farmers’ income, the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), will organise a National Pulses Conference on 7 February 2026 in Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh.

The conference will be chaired by Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

The event will bring together the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Mohan Yadav, along with Agriculture Ministers from all Indian states. As part of the preparatory process, a review meeting was held today under the chairmanship of the Union Agriculture Minister through video conferencing to assess arrangements and finalise the conference agenda.

Speaking during the review meeting, the Union Agriculture Minister stated that the conference will facilitate in-depth deliberations with state agriculture ministers on strategies to increase pulses production, improve productivity, and enhance farm incomes from pulses cultivation. Based on these discussions, a comprehensive national pulses roadmapwill be released for implementation across the country.

During the conference, the Union Agriculture Minister will also interact directly with farmers. The programme will witness participation from agricultural scientists, policy experts, and senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.

In addition, the Union Agriculture Minister will inaugurate the administrative building, farmer training centre, and advanced laboratories at the Food Legumes Research Platform (FLRP), Sehore on the same day. A dedicated pulses exhibition will also be organised as part of the programme, providing farmers with insights into the latest technologies, improved varieties, and recent research advancements in the pulses sector.
