31 October 2025, New Delhi: Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, inaugurated the National FPO Conclave 2025 in Delhi on October 30, 2025. The event recorded the participation of over 500 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) along with farmers, Implementing Agencies (IAs), and Cluster-Based Business Organizations (CBBOs) from 24 states and 140 districts across India.
While addressing the gathering, Chouhan called on farmers and FPOs to move from production to entrepreneurship and value addition. He said farmers should become direct beneficiaries of agricultural growth through market participation.
“Our focus is on integrated farming for the benefit of farmers. Relying only on grain production will not suffice; allied activities must be promoted to raise income,” Chouhan said.
The Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his commitment to farmers’ welfare and said agriculture remains central to livelihood and food security. He noted the need to reduce the price gap between producers and consumers to ensure fair returns to farmers.
Chouhan announced that the government will introduce a Seed Act to ensure the supply of quality seeds. He added that measures are being taken against counterfeit seeds and pesticides, and new legislation will be brought to safeguard farmers.
He encouraged FPOs to take up processing and value addition to improve farm income. Chouhan urged FPOs to increase turnover, membership, and credibility and to share practical suggestions with the Ministry for further action.
Recognition of FPO Initiatives
The inauguration at the NCDC and NCUI premises in Hauz Khas, Delhi, included the felicitation of FPOs, CBBOs, and Implementing Agencies for their work in organisation, business, and digital systems.
Exhibition of Agricultural Products
An exhibition was organised where 267 FPOs displayed cereals, pulses, oilseeds, fruits, vegetables, organic produce, processed food, and traditional items. The Minister visited 57 stalls, interacted with farmers, and encouraged them to use technology, digital tools, and markets to expand their reach.
Technical Sessions and Discussions
Technical sessions and panel discussions were held on oilseed production, water-use efficiency, natural farming, the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund, honey production, digital marketing, AGMARK certification, and seed production. Experts, organisations, and farmers participated in these sessions.
Focus on Market Linkages and Farmer Empowerment
The conclave created a platform for interaction among FPOs, farmers, buyers, and sellers, facilitating new market linkages and collaborations. The event aimed to strengthen the role of farmers as producers, providers, and partners in India’s agricultural value chain.
