PM-KISAN: Over 30 Lakh Farmers Pending Aadhaar–Bank Seeding Across India

12 February 2026, New Delhi: India’s flagship farmer income support programme, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme has disbursed over ₹4.09 lakh crore to farmers through 21 instalments since its launch in 2019. However, a newly released state-wise table highlights that more than 30 lakh farmers are yet to complete Aadhaar–bank account seeding, a mandatory requirement for receiving benefits under the scheme.

Launched in February 2019, PM-KISAN provides ₹6,000 annually to eligible farmers in three equal instalments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts. The scheme aims to supplement farmers’ financial needs while ensuring transparency through a farmer-centric digital infrastructure and eliminating intermediaries.

Over 30 Lakh Farmers Yet to Complete Aadhaar Linking

According to the official Annexure released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, as of February 6, 2026, a total of 30,18,361 farmers across India have pending Aadhaar–bank account linkages.

The data shows that Uttar Pradesh accounts for the highest number of pending cases, followed by Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Payments under PM-KISAN cannot be processed without Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts, making the linking process essential for uninterrupted benefit transfers.

The government noted that Aadhaar seeding is a continuous process as farmers may change bank accounts. Once the requirement is fulfilled, pending instalments are immediately credited to beneficiaries.

Government Push for Saturation Drives

To improve coverage, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is conducting saturation drives in coordination with State governments, Common Service Centres (CSCs), and India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). Farmers are also being notified through SMS alerts to ensure timely Aadhaar linkage.

The government emphasized that the scheme’s digital infrastructure ensures transparency in beneficiary registration and verification while strengthening welfare delivery mechanisms for farmers.

The information was provided by Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Ramnath Thakur, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
