BASF | Nunhems to Acquire Noble Seeds, Expanding Presence in India’s Vegetable Seed Market

18 December 2025, New DelhiBASF | Nunhems, operating through Nunhems India Pvt. Ltd., has entered into an agreement to acquire Noble Seeds Pvt. Ltd., an Indian vegetable seed company. The transaction is subject to statutory approvals and is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2026. Financial details have not been disclosed.

The acquisition will expand BASF | Nunhems’ vegetable seed operations in India. It will add cauliflower and radish to the company’s existing portfolio, which includes hot peppers, watermelons, gourds and tomatoes. The transaction is also expected to increase the company’s market coverage in North India.

Noble Seeds Pvt. Ltd., headquartered in New Delhi, was founded in October 2004. The company is engaged in breeding and supplying hybrid seeds for crops including cauliflower, radish, tomato, hot pepper, watermelon, gourds, okra and cucumber. It operates across multiple regions in India and employs 154 people. Noble Seeds is a major seller of cauliflower hybrid seeds in the Indian market.

Commenting on the agreement, Lakshmi Narasimhaiah Madenahally, CEO of Noble Seeds Pvt. Ltd., said the acquisition would support the company’s next phase of growth. He stated that combining BASF | Nunhems’ breeding and innovation capabilities with Noble Seeds’ germplasm, market knowledge and distribution network would support the supply of vegetable seed solutions to Indian growers.

From BASF Nunhems’ perspective, the acquisition aligns with its strategy to expand its vegetable seed business in India. Maximilian Becker, Senior Vice President, BASF | Nunhems, said the agreement represents a further step in the company’s engagement with the Indian vegetable seed market. He added that the partnership is expected to strengthen the company’s crop portfolio and related offerings in the fruits and vegetables segment.

Both companies will continue to operate independently until the integration process is completed. A dedicated integration team will oversee the transition to ensure continuity for farmers and channel partners.
