High Yielding Soybean Varieties Recommended for Kharif 2025 in Madhya Pradesh
25 May 2025, New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh, often referred to as the soybean bowl of India, holds significant importance in the country’s soybean production. For the upcoming Kharif 2025 season, soybean farmers in Madhya Pradesh are advised to complete sowing between the second week of June and the first week of July. However, sowing should only be done after the arrival of monsoon, ensuring that the soil has received a minimum of 100 mm rainfall to support early crop development.
A critical practice recommended for ensuring yield stability is deep summer ploughing, ideally conducted once every three years. This practice not only helps break hard pans in the soil but also reduces the incidence of soil-borne diseases and pests. If farmers have not already undertaken this ploughing, it should be done this season followed by two rounds of criss-cross harrowing to prepare the field. In normal years, a standard field preparation using criss-cross harrowing followed by planking is usually sufficient.
For the 2025 season, several centrally notified soybean varieties have been recommended for farmers in Madhya Pradesh. These include NRC 165, JS 22-12, JS 22-16, NRC 150, NRC 152, JS 21-72, RVSM 2011-35, NRC 138, EMS 100-39, RVS 76, NRC 142, NRC 130, MACS 1520, RSC 10-46, RSC 10-52, AMS-M-B-5-18, AMS 1001, JS 20-116, JS 20-94, JS 20-98, and NRC 127. These varieties have been selected based on their adaptability, resistance to common pests and diseases, and performance in diverse agro-climatic zones across the state.
In addition to the centrally recommended varieties, the Madhya Pradesh State Government has further advised the cultivation of NRC 157, NRC 131, and NRC 136. These state-recommended varieties have demonstrated consistent yield performance and better resistance to local stresses. Farmers are encouraged to select these varieties based on their regional soil type and previous crop history.
By adopting the appropriate sowing window, proper land preparation techniques, and choosing the right soybean variety, farmers in Madhya Pradesh can significantly enhance their productivity and profitability this Kharif season. For tailored agronomic guidance, they should stay connected with local agricultural extension services and Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
