High Yielding Soybean Varieties Recommended for Kharif 2025 in Uttar Pradesh (Bundelkhand Region)

25 May 2025, New Delhi: The Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a promising area for soybean cultivation, especially during the Kharif season. For Kharif 2025, farmers in this region are advised to plan their soybean sowing between the second week of June and the first week of July. However, experts strongly emphasize that sowing should commence only after the onset of monsoon and the receipt of at least 100 mm of rainfall to ensure adequate soil moisture and proper seed germination.

Deep summer ploughing is a recommended agronomic practice that should be carried out once every three years to maintain soil health and improve yield stability. Farmers who have not yet conducted this activity are advised to complete it this season, followed by two rounds of criss-cross harrowing. In regular years, effective field preparation can also be achieved by using criss-cross harrowing followed by planking to create a suitable seedbed.

The soybean varieties approved for the Bundelkhand region include a wide selection of centrally notified varieties suited for the agro-climatic conditions of central India. These include NRC 165, JS 22-12, JS 22-16, NRC 150, NRC 152, JS 21-72, RVSM 2011-35, NRC 138, EMS 100-39, RVS 76, NRC 142, NRC 130, MACS 1520, RSC 10-46, RSC 10-52, AMS-M-B-5-18, AMS 1001, JS 20-116, JS 20-94, JS 20-98, and NRC 127. These varieties have been rigorously tested and found to perform well under the rainfall patterns, soil types, and temperatures typical of Bundelkhand.

While no additional state-specific varieties have been separately notified for Uttar Pradesh, farmers in Bundelkhand can rely on the centrally recommended varieties, as they cater to the specific agro-ecological requirements of the region. Adopting these varieties, along with proper sowing and land preparation techniques, can help farmers achieve higher yields and greater crop security.

For further technical assistance, farmers are encouraged to consult their local Krishi Vigyan Kendras and agricultural extension officers, who can offer region-specific advice and support for soybean cultivation in Kharif 2025.
