02 February 2025, New Delhi: HI 8802 (Pusa Wheat 8802) is a durum wheat variety developed for timely sown, restricted irrigated conditions in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, and the plains of Tamil Nadu. This variety is known for its high protein content, disease resistance, and superior yellow pigment levels, making it ideal for pasta production and nutrition-focused wheat cultivation.

Developed by ICAR-IARI RS, Indore, this variety was officially notified under 99(E) on 06.01.2020. With an average yield of 29.1 q/ha and a potential yield of 36.0 q/ha, HI 8802 is a reliable option for farmers in the Peninsular Zone.

  • Resistant to black rust (HS 20MS, ACI 9.6) and brown rust (HS 30MS, ACI 7.5), ensuring disease-free cultivation.
