Syngenta Granted Federal Registration For Trefinti Nematicide/fungicide In Ornamental Market
13 November 2025, US: Syngenta announced today that Trefinti® nematicide/fungicide, powered by TYMIRIUM® technology, has been granted federal registration by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). State registrations are actively being pursued and are anticipated to be available soon. Trefinti will systemically control the key species of plant-parasitic nematodes and certain disease-causing pathogens that can damage plant roots and foliage, leading to decreased plant health. The mode of action in TYMIRIUM technology, a FRAC Group 7 and IRAC Group N-3 active ingredient, is absorbed by the roots and translocated throughout the upper canopy, providing control of foliar nematodes and certain diseases, including Fusarium spp., Powdery Mildew and others.

“Nematodes are an often-overlooked pest that can cause significant damage to plant roots and foliage in high-value ornamental crops grown in the nursery and landscape,” said Nancy Rechcigl, technical services manager for ornamentals for Syngenta Professional Solutions. “Root-feeding nematodes primarily live in soil, feeding on the roots of woody and herbaceous ornamentals, while foliar nematodes mostly live and feed in leaves and buds, creating entry points for pathogens. Trefinti provides protection from the roots, targeting and controlling damaging nematodes to ensure overall plant health.”

When applied preventively prior to developing symptoms, Trefinti provides high-level root-to-leaf protection against many foliar diseases, making ornamental crops more resilient to biotic and abiotic stress.
“Through continued investment in R&D, Trefinti is an advanced nematicide/fungicide labeled to address nematode feeding and associated pathogen pressure,” said Carson Cashwell, market manager for ornamentals for Syngenta Professional Solutions. “This latest solution from Syngenta, with product anticipated to be available to growers in January, supports our customers in protecting their bottom line from the hidden threat of nematodes, while also improving overall root and plant health.”
