Rovensa Next Launches Orocide® Plus and Tulga Spinex in the Biocontrol Portfolio for EMEA Region
19 November 2025, Spain: Rovensa Next has launched Orocide® Plus and Tulga Spinex in their biocontrol portfolio for the Europe the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
Orocide® Plus: first orange oil registered to combat Phytophthora infestans in potatoes in France
Orocide® Plus, marketed as Prev-Gold in Germany, will be launched in France as the first authorized orange-oil-based biosolution to control Phytophthora infestans, the pathogen responsible for late blight in potatoes. This is one of the most damaging diseases for crops which causes significant economic losses to growers each year.
Orocide® Plus’ biofungicidal activity acts through direct contact with fungal mycelia and spores, effectively limiting their growth and the spread of infection. It provides strong preventive and curative action against fungi. Additionally, its natural composition means it is an excellent tool for resistance management, supporting its use within integrated crop protection strategies.
Currently, several synthetic products used to manage this disease are facing regulatory review and patent expiry in Europe. Orocide® Plus is the unique orange oil in the market formulated with Orowet® technology to enhance its performance. This technology improves the spread, coverage, and contact of the orange oil on leaf surfaces, maximizing its curative and preventive effectiveness. In this context, Orocide® Plus offers growers a sustainable, effective alternative that aligns with the transition to low-impact agriculture.
It also includes authorization to control aphids in cereals, making Orocide® Plus a broad-spectrum biosolution for key European crops and marking a milestone in the advancement of sustainable biocontrol practices.
The new registration in France includes a pre-harvest interval of three days for potatoes and a 24-hour re-entry interval, highlighting its favorable safety and environmental profile.
Tulga Spinex and Tulga480SC: fast-acting, natural control for key pests
This spinosad-based bioinsecticide of natural origin, which was recently launched in Spain as Tulga Spinex and is soon to be introduced in Greece as Tulga 480SC, is certified for use in organic agriculture and offers broad-spectrum control of major insect pests. Its active ingredient, spinosad, is produced naturally through the fermentation of Saccharopolyspora spinosa.
Tulga Spinex acts through contact and ingestion, bringing a rapid “knockdown” effect that eliminates insect pests within hours. It is highly effective against thrips and caterpillars in crops such as peaches and apricots, while remaining harmless to beneficial insects, including bees and other pollinators, which are crucial for maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem balance. Tulga Spinex provides growers with a reliable, sustainable pest control solution thanks to its low toxicity and compatibility with Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs.
Extensive field and laboratory evaluations confirm the excellent performance of Tulga Spinex, showing very high efficacy against key pests such as Tuta absoluta, Lobesia botrana, and Frankliniella occidentalis in crops including tomatoes, bell peppers, grapevines, and eggplants. Control levels exceeded 90% under optimal application conditions, underscoring its role as a high-impact biological tool that supports both crop productivity and long-term agricultural sustainability.
“These product expansions demonstrate Rovensa Next’s continuous investment in the EMEA region and our commitment to developing high-performance, nature-based solutions which are more accessible to growers,” said Fabio Dias, Head of EMEA at Rovensa Next. “By building on proven technologies, we help growers adopt more sustainable, resilient agricultural practices.”
