UPL Expands NPP Research Center in Mexico with US$1.5 Million Investment
19 November 2025, Mexico: UPL Corporation has unveiled a major expansion of its Natural Plant Protection (NPP) Global Research Center in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, with the launch of new controlled-environment greenhouses built at an investment of US$1.5 million. The upgraded infrastructure significantly boosts the company’s research capabilities in Mexico and strengthens its global innovation network.
The inauguration took place during the third edition of Consejo México Sostenible, where UPL also released its 2024–25 Sustainability Report detailing progress on environmental, social, and governance initiatives. Government representatives, leading agricultural institutions, and international researchers attended the event.
The new facilities include three fully automated tempered-glass greenhouses — described by the company as the first of their kind in Mexico. With this addition, total investment in the center has crossed US$5 million since 2023, supporting a team of over 20 specialized researchers.
These greenhouses will enable standardized scientific validation of NPP biostimulant products under controlled conditions. UPL plans to replicate research protocols developed here in key agricultural regions, including China, Brazil, and several African markets. By 2026, the center is also set to add a dedicated laboratory for gene-expression studies to deepen understanding of biostimulant modes of action.
