BASF launches xarvio® FIELD MANAGER For Grapes in France, Spain, and Türkiye
25 November 2025, New Delhi: BASF Digital Farming has launched a digital platform xarvio FIELD MANAGER For Grapes, providing growers of wine grapes in France, Spain, and Türkiye with access to proven plant, pest, disease, fertilization and irrigation models that measurably improve crop health, while optimizing resources and reducing environmental impacts. The tool marks a major leap forward in the global digitalization of viticulture.
Strategic expansion into the viticulture market

Building on the proven performance and value delivered by its xarvio FIELD MANAGER platform, the new solution for wine grapes underpins a strategic expansion by BASF Digital Farming into viticulture.
Purpose-built, it will be available for the 2025/26 growing season in Europe, supporting the cultivation of more than 100 local wine grape varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay by delivering timely, plot-specific, data-driven agronomic recommendations. These recommendations enable growers to protect yield, improve agronomic management, and practice more sustainable agriculture.
“We’re excited to bring xarvio FIELD MANAGER For Grapes to wine grape growers in Europe,” says Konstantin Kretschun, Global Head of BASF Digital Farming. “This distinctive, smart and cost-effective digital solution empowers grape growers, viticulturists and the broader wine industry to drive measurable improvements in productivity, profitability, and sustainability.”
Supporting more informed and timely crop management
Demonstrating proven reliability across France, Spain and Türkiye, xarvio FIELD MANAGER For Grapes was created in co-operation with wine grape growers and builds on years of feedback and enhancement. Its user-friendly interface and intuitive platform design deliver information in a clear, logical format for more informed, tailored, and effective crop management decisions.
Featuring intuitive dashboards, it seamlessly integrates Hort@’s Decision Support System (DSS) and its specialized plant growth, irrigation, nutrition, pest and disease models, with the xarvio platform. Hort@, an established player in digital agronomic solutions for horticulture, acquired by BASF in 2022, has since been integrated with BASF Digital Farming Solutions.
Enabling sustainable wine grape production
xarvio FIELD MANAGER For Grapes relies on process-based, agronomic models and is bolstered by local expertise to produce its recommendations. The models focus on the agronomical development process (for example, the life cycle of a pathogen or pest) and predict its evolution as a function of influential external variables including environment, crop phenology, and soil characteristics. The models are more accurate and robust in the face of climate change than statistical models, which base their advice on historical data.
All agronomic recommendations provided by the solution are tailored and documented, ensuring crop inputs are used in the right place, at the right time, and in the right amount. This helps wine grape growers meet local regulations and environmental targets, including reduced CO₂ emissions.
xarvio FIELD MANAGER For Grapes can be accessed on desktop, tablet, or smartphone, and is offered through an annual subscription.
