ISO Provisionally Approves New Technical Common Name “Cyprometoxazam” for Syngenta Fungicide

15 October 2025, US: The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has provisionally approved a new technical common name for a fungicide developed by Syngenta Crop Protection AG.

The compound, chemically described as N-methoxy-N-[[4-[5-(trifluoromethyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl]phenyl]methyl]cyclopropanecarboxamide (CAS No. 2093177-34-3), has been assigned the provisional ISO technical common name “cyprometoxazam.”

ISO has invited stakeholders to submit any objections—such as potential conflicts with existing trademarks—by April 12, 2026. If no objections are received by that date, “cyprometoxazam” will be formally approved and included in the next edition of ISO 1750, which compiles preferred and common names for agrochemical substances.
