EL-I TechTM Fertilizer: Greenspan and Custom Chemistry Partnership
28 September 2025, New Delhi: Custom Chemistry has announced a partnership with South African fertilizer company Greenspan to coat its Monoammonium Phosphate (MAP) granules with EL‑I TechTM.
About EL‑I TechTM
EL‑I Tech (Early Life Initiation), developed by Custom Chemistry, uses microbial symbiosis that fixes nitrogen and makes nutrients such as potassium and phosphorus available, reducing reliance on traditional chemical inputs. In the 2024/2025 season, EL‑I TechTM was applied on more than 50,000 hectares across multiple crops. Reported results included increases in maize profit by 75%, sunflower by 54%, citrus yield by 35%, and potato yield by 13%, compared with standard fertilization practices.
Field Trials
In a 500-hectare winter wheat trial, MAP granules coated with EL‑I TechTM achieved a 30% increase in biomass after eight weeks and a 10% rise in leaf chlorophyll at week ten. Increased chlorophyll indicates higher photosynthetic capacity and potential yield per hectare.
Chris Scheepers, Managing Director of Greenspan, stated that the partnership combines chemical fertilizers with biochemistry. Gerhard Vermaak, MD of Custom Chemistry, said EL‑I TechTM is intended for use across multiple markets and can be applied as a standalone product or integrated into existing systems.
The partnership aims to provide a fertilizer solution with higher yield per hectare, environmental adapt
