MAHA Report Misleads the Public and Undermines Food and Science Policy

26 May 2025, ArlingtonThe Council of Producers and Distributors of Agrotechnology (CPDA) shares the MAHA Commission’s concern for improving children’s health outcomes. However, CPDA is deeply concerned that the Commission’s report misrepresents the safety of pesticide use in agriculture and risks undermining the tools that make healthy, affordable food accessible to American families.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has one of the most comprehensive chemical safety review systems in the world. All pesticides registered in the United States undergo extensive scientific evaluation and must meet strict health and safety standards established by law. There is no credible scientific evidence linking the lawful, regulated use of pesticides to the chronic health conditions outlined in the MAHA report.

“We can all agree that improving children’s health is a priority,” said Terry Kippley, President and CEO of CPDA. “But that effort must be guided by sound science. When we blur the line between real risks and unfounded fear, we undermine the very tools that help farmers grow the safe, affordable food families depend on. Crop protection tools are essential to public health and food security. Without them, crop losses would increase, food prices would rise, and access to fresh fruits and vegetables would decline.”

CPDA urges the administration to reject the report’s unsubstantiated conclusions and reassert its commitment to science-based policy. CPDA stands ready to work with lawmakers, regulators, and the agricultural community to support continued access to proven crop protection tools, defend regulatory integrity, and promote the health and well-being of all Americans. Here is CPDA’s summary of the MAHA report.
