ISO Provisionally Approves New Common Name ‘Amfenamacril’ for Aminocyanoacrylate Fungicide
10 December 2025, US: The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has provisionally approved “amfenamacril” as the new common name for an aminocyanoacrylate fungicide developed by Jiangsu Pesticide Research Institute Co., Ltd. The compound, listed under CAS number 3095661-21-2, is chemically described as ethyl (2Z)-3-amino-2-cyano-3-[4-(ethylmethylamino)phenyl]-2-propenoate. Its Chinese common name is 氰烯菌胺.
As part of ISO’s naming protocol, stakeholders may file objections if they believe the proposed name infringes on trademarks or presents other conflicts. Objections must be submitted to the ISO Maintenance Agency by 5 June 2026. If no objections are received by the deadline, “amfenamacril” will move from provisional to fully approved status and be published in the next edition of ISO 1750, which will feature both preferred and common names.
The provisionally approved French common name is « amfénamacril » (nm).
